What do I treat?
One of the most important parts of therapy is ensuring that your therapist treats your specific concern. Some people come to therapy with a specific issue they want to work on, while others simply just know something feels off. Here are some of the most common concerns I am trained to treat:
RELATIONSHIPS (MONOGAMOUS/NON-MONOGAMOUS): Feeling stuck in your relationships? Navigating polyamory for the first time? Relationships are at the core of our functioning in the world, and play heavily into the way we view ourselves. Whether it’s couples or individual sessions, let’s figure out your relationships together.
SEX AND INTIMACY ISSUES: Are sex and intimacy issues keeping you from enjoying yourself or your partner? Are you struggling with a sex or pornography addiction? Utilizing research-based addiction modalities, as well as psychosomatic therapies, we can work together to help you heal the connection to your body or to your partner.
ADDICTIONS: My original passion and interest area is in substance and process addictions. Whether you struggle with an addiction to gambling, shopping, sex, gaming, or other processes, or struggle with an addiction to drugs or alcohol, I utilize evidence and research-based treatments in conjunction with peer-incorporated recovery to help you heal.
ANXIETY: Is anxiety crippling you and keeping you from doing the things you want with your life? Let’s examine your core beliefs, self-talk, and anxiety narratives to find a way to move forward, allowing you to live your life to the fullest.
MOTHERHOOD: Is the motherhood journey not what you thought it would be? Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, rage, loneliness, or lack of feeling like yourself? We can work together to redefine your identity as yourself in addition to your identity as a mother, and find a way to combine the two that best honors you.
TRAUMA AND DECONSTRUCTION: Feeling stuck behind a traumatic event? Looking to find a new way to reword your life story? I work with a variety of modalities to treat process sexual, physical, emotional, religious, and other forms of trauma. We work at a speed that is comfortable to you to help you deconstruct, process, and rebuild your integrated trauma narrative. NOTE: I am not currently certified in EMDR or BSP.
HOLISTIC MENTAL HEALTH: Wanting a more natural and integrative approach to therapy? As a holistic person and therapist, I invite other modalities into the therapy room to invoke healing. Some methods and creative therapies we can utilize include somatic therapies, yoga, bibliotherapy, crystal work, meditations, among others. These modalities are entirely optional ways to enhance your therapeutic experience.
